The father of e-Bullion was charged with money laundering and illegal money transmitter operations, however James Fayed refused to plead guilty. A status conference was appointed on September 15.

The federal trial in that case is to be proceeded on September 30. So we can wait until the beginning of next month to know about this e-currency news.

Saya sendiri sudah menggunakan layanan telkom speedy sejak lama. Saya sudah pernah menggunakan layanan speedy jenis personal, office, sampai warnet. Dan sudah banyak juga masalah yang didapatkan dari situ yg rasanya tidak perlu dibahas satu persatu, sampai perlahan-lahan saya memutuskan untuk berhenti berlangganan satu persatu dan beralih ke ISP yg lain.

Dari sisi kecepatan akses, ‘seharusnya’ speedy membedakan kecepatan paket personal, office, maupun warnet, karena dengan harga yang berbeda, jika Speed yg didapatkan sama akan sangat mengecewakan sekali. Lalu pada awal Speedy menaikkan speednya menjadi up to 1 Mbps, memang terasa peningkatan yg cukup signifikan dan hasil dari speedtest juga mendekati angka yang disebutkan, tetapi dengan kuota yg tetap untuk speedy personal (1 GB dan 3 GB sebulan), tetap saja kita tidak bisa dengan ‘leluasa’ menggunakannya. Terlebih lagi setelah beberapa minggu berjalan, speed yang dirasakan juga terus menurun, lambat, dan seperti kembali ke sedia kala sebelum kenaikan (memang tidak bisa disalahkan karena ‘up to’), belum lagi dengan seringnya DC yang terjadi. Tentu saja ini sangat mengganggu bagi orang yg pekerjaan utamanya sangat bergantung kepada koneksi internet. Lalu jika ada ISP saingan yg muncul dengan harga yg murah, kecepatan yg tinggi, dan kuota yg tak terbatas, apa yang akan terjadi ?

Review ini dibuat berdasarkan pengalaman, dan juga untuk masukan agar layanan ini menjadi lebih baik lagi di masa mendatang.

]]> Sudah sekitar setengah bulan lebih saya menggunakan layanan internet Fastnet dari Firstmedia, saya mengambil paket yang 768 kbps. Setelah sebelumnya sudah cukup lama menggunakan ADSL dari TelkomSpeedy 384 kbps. Fastnet adalah layanan Internet Broadband Cable, sehingga coverage area nya tidak seluas ADSL yang menggunakan Telephone Line. Area yang sudah ter-cover sampai saat ini adalah wilayah Jabotabek dan Surabaya, anda bisa melihatnya di sini.

Fastnet diharapkan dapat menjadi perintis agar Internet di Indonesia dapat menjadi lebih baik, mereka menawarkan paket mulai dari Rp.99.000 / bulan / unlimited. Speed yang ditawarkan beragam mulai dari up to 384 kbps, 512 kbps, 768 kbps, 1500 kbps, sampai up to 3000 kbps. Untuk paket 384 dan 512 kita harus menyediakan cable modem sendiri, dan untuk paket 768 keatas kita akan dipinjamkan modemnya selama kita berlangganan.

Review saya setelah setengah bulan lebih menggunakan layanan ini adalah cukup baik, karena koneksinya cukup stabil dan cepat. Walaupun belakangan ini sempat dirasakan penurunan speed (bisa sampai sekitar 50%), tapi masih bisa ditolerir karena itu juga pada jam-jam tertentu saja dan tidak terlalu lama. Semoga dengan bertambahnya pelanggan tidak menjadikan layanan ini menurun kualitasnya, sehingga layanan ini akan menjadi salah satu pilihan terbaik bagi masyarakat Indonesia :) .

Hasil terakhir saya melakukan SpeedTest ke server Internasional adalah sebagai berikut :

Untuk direct download masih bisa mendapatkan speed sampai dengan 90 KB/sec ++, dan untuk torrent berkisar diantara 50-90 KB/sec. Semoga kualitas ini masih terus dapat dipertahankan sampai kedepannya.. :)
